MouldsPrecast concrete products require mould forms to shape and retain the concrete during vibration and curing. The size, shape and complexity of the product will determine the type of process and mould form that is required. Mould forms can be classified as follows;

Gang Moulds – The most cost effective method of precast production. All products are manufactured on a ‘Production Line’, whereby all moulds are transported to a dedicated vibration system where they are filled. Gang moulds are then returned and stacked to a height of up to 3m thus utilising floor space to the maximum. Gang moulds are then demoulded, usually the next day and the products removed to storage and the process starts again.
The MH4000 series handling machine will accept gang moulds 4m long, up to 2m wide and to a maximum of 4000 Kg. Alternatively the larger MH5000 series will accept 5m long and up to 2m wide, with a maximum of 6000 Kg. All gang moulds are dedicated to the MH series handling machines.

Pre-stressed Moulds – Required for the production of pre-stressed concrete products such as flooring, wall panels, tee-beams, etc. These large static mould forms can reach lengths of up to 150m. They are usually dedicated to one type of product and can be heated to accelerate curing if necessary. Wire stressing can be achieved using handheld hydraulically operated jacks or stressing/destressing heads fitted to the mould ends.

Specialised Moulds – These mould forms are normally required for large products such as septic tanks, cattle drinkers, columns, etc. Handled with forklifts or overhead cranes and normally vibrated using concrete pokers.
